All DIP interface connectors are equiped with a built in signal transformer. They are used for matching balanced 110 Ohm lines to unbalanced 75 Ohm lines (Coax, S/Pdif) as well as isolating unbalanced connections they allow correct measurement of balanced AES signals, level and impedance matching of AES/EBU to 1v Coax lines and for level matching of AES/EBU to S/Pdif. They help reduce jitter problems by preventing earth loops (hum)
